2020 Gasconade Fall Plein Air Rules: Face Mask MUST be worn in buildings.

2020 Gasconade Fall Plein Air is October 22nd through the 25th 2020

Registration may be made in person at AWOM Gallery or by sending AWOM CHECKS ONLY for 2020 event!!!

Join other artists in painting Gasconade County's historic architecture, quaint downtown areas, industrial remnants 

and picturesque country properties set amidst the scenic southern Gasconade County area to compete for (as of now) $2,900 in prize money. We have structured this year for more time to paint and enjoy the company of the locals and other artist by only having one judging per day at 4:30-6:00 pm. at Seasons Of Faith Church. Winning paintings will be displayed at AWOM Gallery and the remaining paintings will be displayed and for sale at Seasons Of Faith Church. Artist will also have the opportunity to sell your artworks to the public (welcome to bring small studio pieces, cards prints as well) at the Wet Paint Sale hosted by White Mule Winery and may exhibit Plein Air Pieces at Artworks on Main Gallery (AWOM) until November 21st.

Locals and visitors are invited to enjoy this event and encouraged to support the artist to help promote the arts in rural

Gasconade County. Art works On Main is a 501(c)(3) non for profit organization. This year artists will invited to create a Theme Painting anytime during the event for an additional award.

This Event is limited to the first 30 Artist that register. Pre-registration required for Host Homes or RV Camping.

Competition Registration Fees:

$30 Early Bird Rate – received by 10/14/20-Includes final day sale booth (First priority in registration order).

$35 Regular Rate *If space is Available (October 16th – 22nd) RV forms must be turned in before event if staying.

Due to budgetary considerations there are no refunds on registrations unless we are forced to cancel event due to covid-19 increase or unforeseen circumstances. If you can’t attend the event, please get in touch with us and let us know so we can add someone from the waiting list.

Rules and Regulations:

The 2020 Gasconade County Fall Plein Air event is open to any artist who paints using the plein air technique in oil, watercolor, acrylic, gouache, pastel, or other non-digital media. All paintings entered in the competition/sale must be done “en plein air” (in the open air where the artist has no control of light or weather) during the event dates in Owensville & Rosebud (Gasconade County). All canvas/paper/boards must be stamped PRIOR to painting. NO unstamped art will be accepted. Any paintings deemed to be created entirely or in part off-site will not be eligible for judging or awards. 

Artist must sign in, acknowledge the liability waiver/terms of use agreement and receive their name badge and

packet before painting. Please wear mask when inside gallery or other buildings.

Artists may stamp as many canvases as they wish, but can enter only up to 2 pieces of work to be judged and 1

for Historical/Nocturne theme for the final day award competition. (for a total of 3 pieces) Artwork turned in for judging or display must be wired or framed for hanging. Artist must paint edges of canvas that are not framed. Artists must provide their own paint kits and sturdy easel(s) for display during judging and will be responsible for own safety and transportation for the safety of their paintings. Some tabletop easels available as well (first come first serve in registration order).

All Painting sales during event MUST be processed through Artworks On Main Gallery. The sales commission is

30% to Artworks On Main Gallery and 70% to the artist for all sales made during the public receptions and final day sale. 

AWOM , GFPA, associated volunteers, the Cities of Rosebud & Owensville its agents and employees, OCOC, & Private Estate properties assume no responsibility for loss or damage to any work, display or person. Please be respectful of properties, volunteers and any curious bystanders at all painting locations. Please pay attention to parking notices. Do not paint on private properties without permission. Please do not block doorways, roads, sidewalks or access ramps to sidewalks. Artists are responsible for their own transportation and lodging. A more detailed summery of rules will be in your artist packet.

Due to Covid-19 GFPA has lost some of the host homes available last year for those traveling more than 60 miles, We are working on discounts at lodging in lovely suites, bed and breakfast, houses, & rooms in historic Airbnb's. For artist that wish to camp or have own tent, camper or RV the city has agreed to provide free sites at Memorial Park for registered artist. You must be a registered artist AND have RV forms approved before arrival for event. RV sites are first come first serve....for water, electric or primitive according to artist registration order. Artist staying at Memorial Park may come in on October 21st. and also check into and pick up artist packets.

A comprehensive list of places to stay that offer discounts coming to the website soon. Only artist that participated last year qualify for host homes unless more become available and they are based on registration order.

Registration & Canvas Stamping:

Registration for event at artworksonmain.org is now open. Registration is available by printing registration form and sending check to Art Works On Main Gallery 113 N 1st St. Owensville, MO 65066. Must be received on or before October 14th, 2020. AWOM will deposited the checks on October 15th, 7 days before the event. (Should event be canceled due to covid-19, checks will be voided and artist will be notified.) Artist can deliver registration fee in person by 4pm Saturday October 17th for the early bird registration. After the 17th the fee is $35. Fees are due at the time of registration if registration is not full. Same-day registration "If available" (We are limiting the artist to 30 this year-early registration is highly suggested). Stamping of materials will be located at Artworks on main Gallery (door will open at 7am). Artists can begin painting after canvases are stamped. May have 2 canvases stamped with the theme stamp allowing artist to paint before or after event hours.

Artists may paint anywhere in Owensville or Rosebud & surrounding area but it is suggested to stick with scheduled locations if competing for the purchase prizes. (Paint something on that location.) If you wish to paint on a property other then event location-please make sure you have permission. We will have locations that artist are invited to paint on with maps & photos available at Gallery when you check in. All materials must still be stamped if turning into final day judging. You are welcome to paint at White Mule Winery during the day-but not after 4pm. Please be respectful as they have weddings scheduled. (But you can paint on property). Gates will close after 4 for private Wedding parties.

The public is invited to come & watch you paint throughout the event and welcome to view when presenting the purchase prizes and after. Artist are encouraged to mingle and stay till end for prospective sales. Mask are required when inside all buildings during event.

Plein Air Competition Begins:

Wed evening 6pm; Welcome Social -Artist arriving can pick up artist packets at Seasons of Faith Church-(Mask Required to enter building) Dinner being provided by Seasons of Faith Church.

Thursday 7am-3:30pm – Registration & Canvases Stamped at Artworks On Main Gallery (mask required inside)-Paint Owensville

Friday Noon-3:30pm - Registration & Canvases Stamped at Artworks On Main Gallery or on Estate property from 8am-3:30pm (mask required inside)

Saturday 10am-3:30pm - Registration & Canvases Stamped at Artworks On Main Gallery (mask required inside) or on

ARTIST CAN HAVE 2 CANVASES FOR THEME PAINT AND CAN HAVE CANVASES STAMPED AND TWO FOR FINAL DAY JUDGING TO PAINT THROUGHOUT THE EVENT. THEME PAINT IS SPONSORED BY WHITE MULE WINERY AND OWNERS WOULD LOVE TO CHOOSE FROM PAINTINGS CREATED AT THEIR LOCATION. MAPS IN PACKET.

10am You may turn in 2 paintings for final awards judging. Paintings must be framed and wired, ready for purchase.

You may turn 1 painting capturing the theme "Life Goes On" $250 Purchase Prize Award also, it must be framed & wired, ready for purchase. This is a total of 3 paintings.

*The Best of Show, First, Second and Honorable mention are AWARDS Only NOT Purchase Prizes-so you may still sell your painting at the sale.

10-10:50-Set up booth or easel for sale. All works including studio works must be priced and labeled for sale.

10:50/11:15-Awards announcement. White Mule will provide a voucher for one glass of wine and are providing a free meal for artist. ARTIST CAN ORDER BUT MUST STAYB IN SALES AREA TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CUSTOMER SALES. TABLES WILL BE PROVIDED IN CENTER OF BUILDING FOR EATING AND WINE!! 

11:30-4pm Sale (to follow directly after award announcements). 

4pm End- Please be respectful and make sure your spot is as clean as when you arrived. 

If you would like to display at The Art Works on Main Gallery you will now transport paintings ready to hang to Gallery.

Art must be picked up from Artworks on main on or before November 21 at 4pm.
